Bin collections in Birmingham will remain disrupted well into next year after Unite confirmed its members voted to extend their strike until March 2026. Workers originally walked out on 11 March 2025, meaning the dispute could run a full 12 months before any resolution is reached.
Unite says the action centres on proposed council reforms that could cost some staff up to £8,000 a year. General secretary Sharon Graham said there is "no point" in further negotiations with the council, claiming commissioners blocked a potential deal reached at ACAS.
