Colchester Council is bringing forward all household waste and recycling collections to a 6am start from Tuesday 7 July for the remainder of that week. The usual start time is 7am. The change applies to general rubbish, recycling, garden waste, glass, and food waste.
Residents must have their bins at the kerbside by 6am on their scheduled collection day. Any bin not out in time may be missed. Normal 7am collections are expected to resume from Sunday 13 July, subject to weather conditions.
The council says the earlier start will allow crews to complete their rounds during the cooler part of the day. Councillor Martin Goss, portfolio holder for neighbourhood services and waste, apologised for any inconvenience and said staff wellbeing was the priority.
