Several councils across Essex have confirmed changes to bin and recycling collections during the week of the May bank holiday on Monday 25 May. Braintree District Council and Castle Point Council will both run collections one day later than usual that week. Castle Point has noted the delay also affects bulky waste collections. Braintree says collections are expected to return to normal from Monday 1 June.
Other councils are making no changes. Tendring District Council, Rochford District Council, and Uttlesford District Council have all confirmed collections will proceed as normal. Brentwood Borough Council says it only alters collections at Christmas and New Year.
Harlow Council and Basildon Borough Council have historically shifted collections one day later following a bank holiday. Residents in those areas are advised to check their specific collection day via their council's website. Chelmsford, Maldon, Colchester, and Southend have not announced any changes; residents should check their council's website or app for their next scheduled collection.
