South Kesteven changes bin collection days for first time in 12 years

BBC News · South Kesteven · 7 Jul 2026

Residents across South Kesteven in Lincolnshire have new bin collection days or times following the district council's first reorganisation of its rounds in 12 years. The changes cover black, silver, purple-lidded and green waste bins, as well as pink and clear sacks. Collections remain weekly and follow the same cycle as before.

Every household received a personalised letter before the changes took effect. Residents must put bins or sacks out by 07:30 on collection day.

District councillor for environment and waste Rhys Baker said the old rounds had lorries "criss-cross the district", causing delays and missed collections. Keeping crews in the same area on the same day should reduce missed bins and cut costs. Baker acknowledged potential "teething problems" and urged residents to contact the council with any concerns.
